Feminine Beauty
A timeless, abstract face of a woman has an ethereal quality in this sculptural vase by Sara Lund. Porcelain clay is hand-built to form the vessel, and pit firing creates the mysterious, smoky finish which is highlighted with painted gold luster detail. The inside of the vase is glazed in black and can hold water, though dried arrangements are recommended for long-term use. Hand crafted in the USA.

Hoop Dee Doo
...is what Jan Wilcox has named her line of changeable dichronic glass earrings. We think it's what you'll exclaim when you discover the numerous possibilities the earrings offer. Choose to wear one, two, or three per hoop, or unequal amounts for an edgy approach.Jan also creates stunning clocks and delightful pocket vases, each a one-of-a-kind vision in stained and dichronic glass. Is it her Catskill Mountain studio or her background in Tibetan Buddhism, organic farming, pond design, Shiatsu therapy, and stress management that illuminates her work? Probably all of the above.

Too Cute to Leave So Soon
Many of our customers have come to depend upon the hand-made towel sets from My Three Cuties. These adorable creations are crafted locally by a stay-at-home mom, so you know she understands softness, absorbency, durability, and visual appeal! The tight confines of our store limit the amount of her products we can stock, so now is the time to stock up on the burp-cloths and complete gift sets you KNOW will be extremely appreciated by new parents.

We are also pleased to present cotton totes (and sock monkey wine bottle covers!) from local company AS IF, or Aspergers Syndrome In the Family. Formed by twosisters, this group supports autism awareness through funding, website links, and donations to special events.

Try Cribbage on Family Game Night
Cribbage originated as a pub game in jolly old England and has survived centuries of competition from other games and diversions. It remains very popular in the American Navy, particularly among submariners.
Easy to learn, hard to master, and then there's always the element of pure luck needed to win. While it's technically possible to keep score on a pad of paper, a proper cribbage board tracks points earned as you leapfrog your way along the "streets" with your pegs or spilikins. A hidden compartment keeps the cards and pegs neatly organized. Handmade in the USA.

Rock Around the Clock...
...or bowl, or coaster set. While we appreciate the portability of iPods and CDs, there was just something about vinyl records. Was it the anticipation? The ambiance of the record store? The liner notes you could read without a microscope? Now you can reconnect with your inner rocker in an eco-friendly and practical way. Vinylux vintage record design crafts new products from old friends. We have clocks fashioned from 45s and LPs, LP bowls* in two designs, and record label coaster sets.
An added treat this time is the calibre of artists we have received: Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors, Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin, the Who -- a line-up that will surely become a sell-out soon.
"One time in San Francisco I was standin' in an airport line
In one bag I had all my clothes the other was all them ol' records of mine
The lady said I could only bring one bag
I had two, Oh what a drag
I had to jump on the plane and leave all my clothes behind"
-Todd Snider, Vinyl Records
* Due to the unknowable origins of the records, bowls are not intended for use with food. They are not dishwasher or microwave safe.

Where in the World?
With its traffic circles and oddly angled blocks, many of us consider Pierre the "L'Enfant terrible" of city planning (sorry!). But he really did create a stunning plan for Washington, noting "[t]he city must be beautiful, due advantage being taken of the hilly nature of the spot for grand or lovely prospects...."
Our selection of map merchandise will let you ponder the city's layout from the safety of your sofa, coffee table, or desk. Magnets and puzzles provide a street-level view of our area, while pillows, coasters, and wine corks from Maine company On the Map zoom out for a regional shot.
No need to feel "lost" for a present with this selection!
