Don Supplee Designs

Sought-after Native American jeweler Don Supplee has sent us some stunning new pieces in sterling silver and 14K gold. He creates jewelry that manages to be both crisply geometric and earthy, mainly through the use of surface texture and by incorporating highly figured turquoise from famous mines.

Born in 1965 near the Hope reservation in Flagstaff, Arizona, his initial artistic career was culinary. After becoming an accomplished chef, he started helping out his brother, Charles, in his jewelry studio. His love of the craft and his obvious talent led him to a second career. Don has won numerous awards at the annual Intertribal Ceremonial in Gallup, NM and is included in the National Collection in Washington, DC.

Canine Costumery

The 13th Annual McLean Reindog Pageant is coming up Sunday, Dec. 6, and we have doggy accessories to help you get your pooch ready to compete. Red Christmas kerchiefs with Velcro closures and sparkly plaid collars with jingle bells come in a variety of sizes. Holiday costume headbands (including the all-important reindeer antlers) designed for humans can work on larger dogs as well. We also have some silly Christmas hats from Elope for you to complete your Pageant duds.
This year, the festivities take place at McLean Baptist Church from 1 - 3 p.m., kicking off the McLean Winterfest that includes a parade through downtown and culminates in the lighting of the Christmas tree at Holiday Island.

Party Panache

Asian-inspired jacket by Sterling Styles. Floaty semi-sheer fabrics are pieced together for this artsy topper. The center medallion and button detail give the suggestion of a waistline without being at all fitted. In fact, their tops are One Size and fit a surprisingly wide range of sizes and body types, due to the clever cuts and use of materials that softly drape.

The Childhelp Angels are Here!

Each year at holiday time we donate our proceeds from gift wrapping to Childhelp. It is a wonderful organization devoted to helping abused & neglected children, with an active Chapter of volunteers here in the DC area - some of whom give of their time to come help us wrap.
The Childhelp Village in Culpeper, VA is home to dozens of kids who have had to be removed from their homes. We collect gifts to give them at Christmas; the Wish Lists includes specific requests from individual children as well as items that are always in high demand. We invite you to bring some holiday joy to these kids by fulfilling a Wish. Choose an angel from our tree at the store, or click on the Childhelp logo above to view the Wish Lists. Simply drop your donations by the store during regular business hours. The kids thank you!

Israeli Sterling

Stefan's Jewelry represents Israeli jewelry designers. The work is contemporary with an organic feel to it: not precisely symmetrical or regular; surface texture is important; even the silver alloy has a different, richer hue.

2009 White House Ornament

Once again, we are carrying the White House ornament on behalf of the Tysons Civitan Club. The funds raised support their charitable work in the community, particularly with the developmentally disabled. Our price is $19, including complimentary wrapping so they are all ready to give as gifts.

The 2009 ornament commemorates the second presidency (1893-1897) of Grover Cleveland, the only U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms. It illustrates the special place of the Christmas tree in the holiday celebrations of President Cleveland’s young family, and depicts the first White House Christmas tree (seen through the South portico windows) to be illuminated by electric lights. The reverse side of the ornament recreates a scene from the tree-trimming parties of President and Mrs. Cleveland, which were held annually for their children and those of cabinet members.

Industrial Delicacy

Sterling silver meets industrial enamels in these cool, contemporary rings by DAmetals. They're easy to give as gifts or wear on different fingers since the open design can adjust all the way from 5-1/2 up to 8. The color combinations are fun and as you can see look terrific in groups. Expanding on this theme, the line includes interchangeable pendant sets; you get a chain and a set of either 3 or 5 colors of pendants. Brilliant!
Designer and creator Devienna Anggraini, originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, completed her BFA at the University of Oregon and her MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design.
