Last 3 Days to Save

We're down to the final three days of our pre-renovation sale. The shelves are looking a little bare, and it's starting to resemble a construction zone. Newly arrived cabinets and fixtures are awaiting delivery, counter tops are getting fabricated, and flooring is being stocked for installation, Behind the scenes, jewelry displays are being constructed. They will soon showcase jewelry ordered at the NY accessories market this weekend.

Renovation Update

We're squeezing in some jobs while the store stays open this week. The ceiling is in the process of becoming rich lavender (Benjamin Moore "Amethyst Cream" purchased from Color Wheel), and the track lighting is being moved to enhance the coming furniture arrangement (lighting consulting by Lamps Unlimited). The new laminate floor has been selected, and will be installed next week by The Carpet Yard, also right here in McLean. Thanks, neighbors!

Jasper the Blog Star

Our "Dog Days" doggie is named Jasper. This sweet pup belongs to Stacy Harkins, daughter of Artisans owner Judy Harkins. He keeps Stacy company while she's making jewelry, and has occasionally been called upon to model her creations. Who could resist that face? The bone keeps him busy so he doesn't eat the beads when they go rolling on the floor!

Store Renovation

We've been busy reviewing sketches, samples & swatches as we prepare for a little store facelift. Picking colors & finishes is so much fun, and having Color Wheel in our shopping center makes taking care of the paint portion so easy. The walls will be going a little darker shade of taupe mixed with mauve, with a happy lavender gracing the ceiling. There will be accent walls in a lovely, soothing shade of green. We'll keep you posted on our progress & let you know exactly when we'll be closed for a few days so the floor can be replaced.

Yipes! Bugs!

Creepy, crawly, tentacled bug pins are handcrafted of polymer clay in the USA by Joyce Fritz Studio. The finely rendered patterns are not painted on - they are the result of various colored clays being layered up, rolled out, sliced and diced. In some cases, metallic elements add to the glam factor. Legs and antennae are fashioned from colorful twisted wires. A simple tie-tack back turns these critters into wearable specimens. Bring out the entomologist in you! $24 and up
